When it’s time to get away, Vancouver is often way too low on the list.

If food motivates your travel, some of the best culinary delights of Asia find a rare match in this city, as does true farm to table goodness, with local wine to match.

For the outdoorsy, the temperate year round climate and proximity to stunning skiing at Whistler may be the draw, and for everyone else – it’s a buzzing city with so much to do and more culture than you can imagine. Here’s everything you need to know, to explore like a local and a few tips on how to get there using points too…

Big brand luxury is big here, and fans of the Marriott Bonvoy or Accor ALL loyalty programs are spoiled for choice. The JW Marriott Parq Vancouver will solve most needs.

For ultra-nice, Rosewood Georgia is a wow factor. Local and lovely: Skwachàys Lodge is all things art and original. Opus Vancouver is fun in Yaletown, for a cool location.

Eating here is seriously fun. The Pacific Northwest offers bountiful fresh produce from land and sea and a fusion of influences thanks to close links with Asia mena you’ll find many gems.

Kissa Tanto is a perfect fusion example and is very chic. Burdock champions the ingredients of the area. For Chinese food heaven, often regarded as the best outside of China, Dynasty Seafood or Bao Bei will hit the spot.

Set inside the Fairmont Pacific Rim, Botanist Bar slaps. Keefer Bar and La Mezcaleria – yes, this is indeed Canada’s first Mezcaleria – are also the perfect place to sip the night away, with great food nearby too.
