The Chase Travel portal is an online travel booking platform that is available to select Chase credit cardholders. It functions similarly to other popular travel booking tools, allowing travelers to book flights, hotels, rental cars, cruises, activities, and other experiences.

When booking through the Chase travel portal, you can redeem your Chase Ultimate Rewards points, pay using a credit card, or use a combination of points and cash as payment.

Those with select Chase rewards credit cards can get more value from their points by booking through Chase Travel. Here’s what you need to get the most out of the Chase travel portal.

Overview of the Chase travel portal

One popular way to book travel using Chase Ultimate Rewards points is through the Chase travel portal. It functions similarly to other online travel booking platforms: Users search for travel based on their preferred destination and dates. Chase will then show potential booking options. You can follow the prompts to finalize your reservations.

Depending on which credit card you have, your Chase Ultimate Rewards points may be worth more when redeemed through the Chase travel portal than other redemption choices. For example, Chase points are worth 1.25 cents each if you have a Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or 1.5 cents with the Chase Sapphire Reserve. Meanwhile, those with a Chase Freedom Unlimited Card, for example, can redeem rewards for one cent each.

As with any travel booking platform, it’s important to review all details before finalizing your reservation. Additionally, you should consider the cancellation terms so you know what to expect if your plans change and you need to cancel your booking. The portal is an excellent resource for travelers seeking a simple way to redeem their points, but it doesn’t always provide the best value.

Benefits of booking travel through the Chase travel portal

There are many benefits to using Chase Travel. Here are a few top benefits:

Easy and convenient: Chase Travel is easy to use and functions like many other online travel booking platforms. You can quickly search for and book travel.

Earn bonus miles: Some Chase cards allow you to earn bonus points when using your card to book travel through the Chase Travel portal. With the Chase Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card card, you’ll earn 5 points per $1 on travel bookings made through Chase Travel (excluding hotel bookings that qualify for the $50 Annual Chase Travel Hotel Credit).

With the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, you’ll earn 5 points per $1 on flights and 10 points per $1 on car rentals and hotels (excluding The Edit hotel bookings) made through Chase Travel. These bonus rewards apply after the first $300 in travel purchases made annually with your card.

Not limited to transfer partner bookings: Travelers have more flexibility to book the travel arrangements that work best for them and aren’t limited to only booking travel by transferring their rewards to Chase travel partners. Notably, Delta and American aren’t Chase partners, so using the portal is an easy way to use your Chase points on those airlines.

Can redeem Chase points for various travel bookings: You can use your points to book flights, hotels, car rentals, cruises, and more—providing many ways to redeem them.

Multiple ways to pay: You can make Chase travel bookings using your Chase Ultimate Rewards points, pay with a credit card, or use a combination of points and cash.

Here are some of the downsides of booking through Chase Travel:

While Chase Travel is an excellent booking tool, it’s not without flaws:

Chase travel bookings aren’t always the best value: You may not get the best value or the best price when booking through the Chase travel portal. If you want to maximize your value or savings, be sure to compare prices to book directly with the travel brand.

You may also get more value by transferring your points to one of Chase’s travel partners. Don’t forget to explore this option to see if your points can go further.

Getting help when things go wrong can be challenging: Since Chase Travel is a third-party booking platform, it can be more of a challenge to get prompt customer service help if something goes wrong during your travels. When you book directly with an airline or hotel, you can contact them directly for assistance when dealing with delays or cancellations.

Limited ability to earn rewards program points: Chase Travel is a third-party booking platform, meaning you don’t make reservations directly with the airline, hotel, or car rental company. For some airline or hotel rewards programs, you are prohibited from earning rewards when you use a third-party platform. You’ll earn Chase Ultimate Rewards points if you use your Chase credit card, but you may be unable to double up on your rewards earnings by earning through the airline or hotel’s loyalty program. Keep this in mind when using the portal.

Who has access to the Chase travel portal?

You can access the Chase travel portal if you have a Chase credit card that earns Chase Ultimate Rewards points. The following Chase credit cards earn Chase Ultimate rewards and allow you to use your rewards to make Chase travel bookings. The value of your points varies depending on the card you have:

Chase Freedom Flex®1 cent
Chase Freedom Unlimited®1 cent
Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card1.25 cent
Chase Sapphire Reserve®1.50 cent
Ink Business Cash® Credit Card1 cent
Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card1.25 cent
Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card1 cent
Chase Freedom Rise Credit Card1 cent

Pro tip: If you have multiple Chase credit cards and have a card that provides more value when booking through Chase travel, you can transfer your points to that card before booking. Doing this can increase the value of your Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

Which airlines can you book with the Chase travel portal?

Chase partners with many major airlines through the Chase travel portal. This means you can book flights with many of your favorite airlines. One major advantage of using the portal instead of transferring your rewards to a travel partner to book an award flight is that you have more flexibility to fly with the airline of your choosing.

Other things to consider when using the Chase travel portal

Booking through the Chase travel portal can be a great option. But there are some things to keep in mind before you make a booking. Here are some tips for success:

If you’re looking for the best deal, you may want to see if you can get a cheaper rate by booking directly with the hotel instead of using the portal. If you’re on a tight budget, it can be beneficial to compare prices—especially if you’re not redeeming your Chase points for a booking.

Many of the best Chase travel credit cards allow travelers to transfer their Chase Ultimate Rewards points to select airline and hotel partners. You may want to see if you can get more value from your rewards by transferring your points rather than booking through the portal.
