Since bursting onto the point and miles scene in 2021, Bilt points have become one of the most valuable transferable currencies in recent years. With a standard 1:1 transfer ratio, 16 travel partners including 12 airlines and four hotels, and the ability to earn points by paying your rent each month, Bilt Rewards is now comparable to veteran loyalty programs like Chase Ultimate Rewards and American Express Membership Rewards.

If you’re just getting started with points and miles, transferring rewards to a travel partner might sound intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. Below, we’ll take a look at the program’s many transfer partners and how to get the best value for your hard-earned Bilt points.

The value of Bilt points

As with other travel rewards programs, the overall value of your points can be pretty subjective, depending largely on your personal financial and travel needs. In general, transferring points directly to travel partners offers the biggest bang for your buck.

Though at a lower value per point, Bilt points can be redeemed for exercise classes (with SoulCycle, Pure Barre, or Rumble), curated home decor via the Bilt Collection, or put toward statement credits (for charges made with the co-branded Bilt Mastercard), Amazon purchases, rent, or a down payment on a future home. So, if you won’t be traveling anytime soon, redeeming points for non-travel expenses could be worthwhile.

While Bilt doesn’t release an official points value on its website since there are so many ways to redeem them, One Mile at a Time does place a value of 1.7 cents per point as a general guideline for making award redemptions.

Benefits of transferring Bilt points

As with any transferrable points program, you’ll get the best value by transferring points directly to a travel partner, especially since Bilt Rewards allows you to do so at a 1:1 ratio.

Transferring Bilt points to travel partners allows you to have the most flexibility, as you’ll have 12 airlines and four hotel brands to choose from. Transferring also opens you up to booking flights with airline alliance partners, allowing you to cast a wider net when searching for the best redemption options.

You’ll often find better award rates by changing points over to one of United Airlines’ Star Alliance partners, like Avianca, Air Canada, or Turkish Airlines  all of which are Bilt Rewards travel partners.

Of course, you could use your Bilt points to book flights, hotels, car rentals, vacation packages, Blade helicopter transfers, or other trip-related activities via the Bilt travel portal. But that means you’d be limiting your award redemptions to Expedia’s inventory instead of extending your search to include more airline partners.

Your redemption value will also be lower per point (1.25 cents per point) than if you were to transfer them directly to one of Bilt’s travel partners (closer to 2 cents per point).

Bilt transfer partners overview

According to Bilt’s website, most transfers happen in about 20 minutes, though they could take 24 or 48 hours. It’s always a good idea to make sure you’re transferring points ahead of time, just in case.

Whichever program you choose, all transfers will be made at a 1:1 ratio, whether you go through BiltRewards.com or the Bilt Rewards app. Occasionally, Bilt will offer transfer bonuses to select partners, so you could end up with even more points.

Once the points leave your Bilt Rewards account, the process can’t be reversed. So make sure you have a redemption in mind before transferring them.

The best Bilt transfer partners

Ultimately, choosing the best transfer partners depends on a few factors: your travel needs, the closest airport hub, and which airline alliance or carrier you’re most loyal to (especially if you’re working toward status). That said, a few of Bilt’s partners stand out among the rest.

Air France/KLM Flying Blue and Virgin Red for SkyTeam flights

Flying Blue has long been a favorite (and it’s our top rewards program for U.S. flyers) for its lower redemption rates and special Promo Rewards, which make flights to and within Europe (plus a handful of African cities) even more affordable.

Current deals include one-way flights from Paris to several European cities from 5,625 miles. New York to Algiers starts from 15,000 miles, and Washington, D.C. to Nairobi from 26,250 miles.

One-way flights between the U.S. and Europe typically start at 20,000 in economy, 35,000 in premium economy, and 50,000 in business class.

A sample point.me search for a one-way economy flight from New York (JFK) to Paris (CDG) in March 2025 reveals a trip on Air France, bookable with Flying Blue for 20,000 miles plus $99 in taxes. This award is also bookable via Bilt partner Virgin Atlantic Flying Club for 12,000 miles plus $160 in taxes.

Virgin Red points, tied to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, can be used to book affordable flights across the pond, as in the case above. You can also redeem them for award flights with other alliance partners, like Delta Air Lines and SAS, which just joined SkyTeam in September 2024, or non-alliance partners like Air New Zealand, South African Airways, and Virgin Australia. Just be aware that the taxes and fees may be higher.

Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan for Oneworld and non-alliance flights

One of the most valuable airline currencies, Mileage Plan miles can be used to book flights with Oneworld alliance partners (think American Airlines, British Airways, Qantas, and Cathay Pacific, among others), as well as non-alliance partners like Icelandair, Aer Lingus, LATAM Airlines, Air Tahiti Nui, Korean Air, and Singapore Airlines.

A sample search on point.me for the same JFK-CDG itinerary mentioned above offered American Airlines tickets, bookable via Alaska Mileage Plan, Cathay Pacific Asia Miles, and British Airways Executive Club.

Taxes and fees can vary by redemption. Notice above how Alaska Airlines offers the most cost-efficient choice, from 27,500 miles and just $19 in taxes, whereas the taxes and fees for Cathay Pacific and British Airways are $242.

Air Canada Aeroplan, Avianca LifeMiles, or Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles for Star Alliance flights

When redeeming Bilt points for flights with United, Lufthansa, or other Star Alliance carriers, it may be worth transferring them to Air Canada Aeroplan, Avianca LifeMiles, or Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles for the best rates. That said, if you’re hoping to snag a Singapore Airlines redemption, it’s only possible to do so through Air Canada Aeroplan, not the other two.

Run your search through United’s website to check for award availability first, then transfer the points to your desired program through the Bilt Rewards website or app.

Your redemption rates will depend on your starting point and destination (rates may differ if you’re coming from the East Coast vs. the West Coast) or how many miles you’re flying. For Aeroplan, you can calculate the distance on Great Circle Mapper first.

Other good Bilt transfer partners

Bilt Rewards has several transfer partners that offer additional redemption options to help you save on travel, even if they aren’t necessarily the best.

Transferring Bilt points to United Airlines MileagePlus is a decent option if you value flexibility and customer service over scoring the lowest possible redemption rate. Ideally, you’d either try to use United’s nifty Excursionist Perk to work additional stops into your itinerary or redeem miles for a shorter hop (or a repositioning flight as part of a longer itinerary).

While not likely as lucrative as what you’d find with Alaska Airlines Aeroplan, other programs like Cathay Pacific Asia Miles, British Airways Flying Club, Aer Lingus AerClub, and Iberia Plus each offer reasonable options for booking flights with Oneworld partners. Your options will depend largely on the distance flown, the cabin you choose to fly in, and the time of year you’re traveling (off-peak business-class redemptions on Iberia are usually a steal).

Bilt transfer partners to be cautious about

Of Bilt’s airline partners, Emirates Skywards can be pretty pricey when it comes to points redemptions. Round-trip economy redemptions starting at 60,000 Skywards miles for Saver or 100,000 for Flex Plus awards.

That said, Skywards does offer a ton of nonstop routes between North America and the U.A.E. If you’re determined to fly Emirates, it could be worth transferring Bilt points — and points from other transferable credit card programs — to Emirates Skywards to make it happen.

Though Bilt Rewards does count World of Hyatt, Marriott Bonvoy, IHG One Rewards, and Hilton Honors among its partners, it’s generally not recommended that you spend your precious points on hotel redemptions. Of the four programs, you’ll likely find the best value within the World of Hyatt, though it depends entirely on your travel style and preference.

Earning Bilt points

Bilt Rewards is currently the only loyalty program that lets users earn points on rent payments without incurring a fee. Members can also pick up points by booking flights, hotels, rental cars, activities, and other travel elements through the Bilt Travel Portal; by booking participating exercise classes; eating at participating restaurants through Bilt’s Neighborhood Dining program; making purchases at Walgreens; or by linking their accounts to Lyft (2X points for rideshares).

As long as you’re a Bilt Rewards member, you’ll earn 1X points on travel purchases made within the Bilt travel portal with any linked credit card. That goes up to 2X points for travel (including travel portal-related purchases) if you’re paying with the Bilt Mastercard, though you must use the card at least five times per statement period to earn points.

Bilt cardholders also earn 3X points on dining and 1X points on rent payments (up to 100,000 points per calendar year) and for all other purchases made with the card. There’s no annual fee and no welcmoe bonus or minimum spending requirement.

On the first day of the month (Rent Day), Bilt cardholders earn double rewards on all spending except rent. Keep an eye out for Rent Day deals, including freebies and transfer bonuses. For instance, you might be able to score a bonus of 100% or even 150% to one of its partner airlines. Typically, the higher your Bilt status level is, the greater the transfer bonus.

Bilt points never expire as long as your account is active and in good standing.

Tips for maximizing your Bilt points

Knowing which travel partners are associated with your preferred loyalty program will get you far when it comes to strategizing award redemptions.

While only the Bilt Mastercard allows you to earn Bilt points, many of Bilt’s travel partners are also connected to other loyalty programs, like Chase Ultimate Rewards, American Express Membership Rewards, Citi ThankYou Rewards, and Capital One Rewards.

So you could transfer points from a few of them to a particular Bilt transfer partner (like Air France/KLM Flying Blue, for example) to top off your balance for an award redemption.

Here’s a look at some of the most popular personal credit cards that let you earn transferable points (business card options might also be available).

Chase Ultimate Rewards:

  • Chase Sapphire Preferred Credit Card
  • Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card
  • Ink Business Preferred Credit Card
  • Cards, like the Chase Freedom Unlimited, Chase Freedom Flex, Ink Business Unlimited, and Ink Business Cash, which require you to also have one of the first three cards to transfer points (cashback is awarded in the form of Ultimate Rewards points).

American Express Membership Rewards:

  • The Platinum Card from American Express
  • American Express Gold Card
  • American Express Green Card

Capital One Rewards:

  • Capital One Venture X Rewards
  • Capital One Venture Rewards
  • Capital One VentureOne Rewards
  • Capital One VentureOne Rewards for Good Credit

Citi ThankYou Rewards:

  • Citi Strata Premier Card
  • Citi Prestige Card (not available to sign up if you don’t have it already)
  • Citi Double Cash card and Citi Custom Cash card (cash back is earned as Citi ThankYou points)
